Founded in 1982, Abbess provides instruments and systems for science and industry. It has provided custom instruments and systems applications for national labs, corporate research labs, and supported research projects to more than 100 universities. Among the products available from Abbess are cryostats and cryogenic systems, Hall Effect and Resistivity measurement systems, wide temperature range cryogenic workstations, gas and liquid control and delivery systems and Vacuum Chambers, supplied domestically and around the globe. Abbess also provides vacuum chambers that integrate heat and cryogenic features for deep temperature cycling. Abbess products are used in a wide variety of applications including deep space simulator chambers, degassing epoxy for molding and drying herbs. Company President Geoffrey Zeamer has a background in low temperature physics, has worked with the US Navy anti-submarine effort and at the Stanford University Low Temperature Physics Lab, as well as in particle and plasma physics. Abbess developed cryostats used to support the National Ignition Facility (NIF) effort. Abbess has the flexibility to deliver both standard and custom equipment to meet exacting specifications. The company's design, engineering and manufacturing capacity covers vacuum systems, cryostats, cryogenics, magnetics, thermal dynamics, materials and heat transfer, software, algorithms and mathematics. Since its founding, over twenty years ago, Abbess Instruments has designed and delivered to military and government laboratories, universities and top industry research and development laboratories.
Abbess' flexibility provides customers with many options. Rather than being limited to a few catalog items, Abbess customers have the freedom to order either a previously designed instrument as shown here, or to have new instrument designed to the exact specifications they need.
